Cost to Visit

The cost for Sunday visits is $20 each for adult individuals, $15 each for children or concession holders, $30 for a family up to four then $5 for additional family members.

The cost for week day visits is $90 for a party of 6 or less, $15 per head for groups of 7 or more, drivers and carers are not charged for.

Terms and Conditions

The following terms apply to public visits to Lancer Barracks and Museum:

Lancer Barracks and Museum are open most Sundays, and at other times if a booking is made. Contact free payment is available at the Museum. Sunday visits can be booked and paid for online.

Entry is from Smith Street at the junction of Darcy Street, vehicles should approach along Smith Street from the North, turning left at the cream timber gates opposite Darcy Street.

If arriving by train, use the eastern (Sydney end) ramp. Turn left, proceed up the stairs, cross Station Street East, turn left and proceed north west along Station Street East until you come to the gates opposite Darcy Street. The Parramatta Bus Terminal is adjacent the Railway Station exit.

The gates will be locked when you arrive, a guide will be either be nearby present to allow entry or please press bell and wait at the gate until our staff grant you access. Vehicles including busses can be parked on site provided prior arrangements have been made.

Do note that you are to enter an active Army Base. If group members are travelling individually to the site, the group should gather, then enter Lancer Barracks together. Smith Street is also a high traffic road, it is not recommended that vehicles attempt to drop-off visitors outside the gate. When inside the group should stay together and follow the instructions of the tour guide, or military personnel on site.

Lancer Barracks has toilet facilities, including some suitable for use by the disabled. The ground in the barracks area is uneven, and there are some steps. There is no restaurant or coffee shop on site.

The Lancers' Museum building is of 1828 design, there are two steps to the ground floor, twenty to the first floor. Aisles within the building are not suited to wheelchairs and mobility aids.

During and immediately post the COVID-19 pandemic, circumstances do change at very short notice. Visitors will be required to comply with measures mandated by the Government at the time of their visit.
