The Royal New South Wales Lancers

Monthly TANK DAYS at Lancer Barracks

On every last Sunday of the month, take a unique opportunity to visit heritage listed Lancer Barracks, Parramatta and experience one of our heritage fleet of armoured fighting vehicles start its engines and drive around the Barracks. It could be our world-famous WW2 Matilda Tank named ACE, our 50 ton Centurion Main Battle Tank or our WW2 Bren Gun Carrier, the Regiment's first ever armoured fighting vehicle. A tank will move at 1100 and again at 1400. Then go behind the scenes with a Curator to examine and discuss Museum "mystery" items, rarely on public display and, perhaps, help to solve the mysteries surrounding them.

You can travel the length and breadth of Australia and rarely, if ever, witness a national heritage WW2 armoured fighting vehicle that saw action in a major battle drive around in the condition its wartime crew would have known it. To watch, hear and smell a large tank fire its engines and drive around, is like watching, hearing and smelling a large steam train moving - very, very different from looking at a "dead" item in a display shed

Make certain you book for the last Sunday of the month!
